INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS ARE

AVAILABLE FOR 7TH GRADERS

The following is a list of sports that will be offered:

Any athlete that wishes to participate in a 7th grade interscholastic sport need to have on file the following:

1. Current Medical Physical

2. Parent Permission Form/Insurance Coverage

3. ASB Card : $15.00 (collected during school picture day)

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES

It is the responsibility of all athletes attending West Valley Middle School to maintain a C- or better grade in Humanities, Science, and Math while participating in a 7th grade Interscholastic Sport. Failure to do so will result in the following:

If grade drops to a D:

(1st Week)

  • Student and parents will be contacted by Athletic Director.
  • Athlete is placed on a 1 week probationary period.
  • Athlete may turn-out and participate in games or matches, but he/she must bring grade to C- or above during this week.

If grade is not brought up to a C- during probationary period:

(2nd Week)

  • Student and parents will be contacted by Athletic Director.
  • Athlete is placed on a 1 week ineligibility period.
  • Athlete may decide to turn-out for practices if he/she feels that they do not need the after school time to bring grade up to a C-, but will not be allowed to participate in games or matches during this week. Athlete must bring grade up to a C- or above during this week.

If grade is not brought up to a C- after 1 week of ineligibility period:

(3rd Week)

  • Student and parents will be contacted by Athletic Director.
  • Athlete is placed on a 2nd week of ineligibility period.

Athlete will be required to turn in uniform and equipment after 2nd week of ineligibility period if grade is not brought up to a C- or above.

If grade drops to an F:

(1st Week)

  • Student and parents will be contacted by Athletic Director.
  • Athlete is placed on a 1 week ineligibility period.
  • Athlete may decide to turn-out for practices if he/she feels that they do not need the after school time to bring grade up to a C-, but will not be allowed to participate in games or matches during this week. Athlete must bring grade up to a C- or above during this week.

If grade is not brought up to a C- after 1 week of ineligibility period:

  • Student and parents will be contacted by Athletic Director.
  • Athlete is placed on a 2nd week of ineligibility period.
