I am very interested in seeing all my students bridge their gaps in reading. Research shows that 20 minutes or more of reading practice is apprpriate home work in order for them to reach their full potential as readers. I expect my students to read for 20 minutes from either a library book or a book from home. They can read silently or out loud to an adult. I am also requiring that they write a two sentence reflection or summary.

The Reading Log forms will go home on Monday and are due on Friday. They are worth 25 points. The weekend entry will be done in class on Friday during our silent reading time. If your student has their assignment with them, they will then have no weekend reading homework from me.

We will be using the REWARDS Multisyllabic Word Reading Strategies as well as The Read Naturally Program to help all of our students gain skills in reading and improve fluency.
