Spelling Homework

Every week we will have a new spelling list made up of 16 words which follow a common theme such as “2 syllable words”. The list will be sent home on Monday after taking the pretest and the final test will be given on Friday. In addition, we will also have four review words from the previous weeks’ lists and/or words we are studying in Geography.
(Total of 20 spelling words per week)

* Those students receiving 100% on the pretest will not be required to do the spelling homework or final test on Friday.

* However, for each misspelled word, students must complete the 2 sided worksheet for homework AND take the entire spelling test again on Friday.

* Homework should be turned in on Thursday of each week.

Below, you will find a list of suggested activities to help you study throughout the week...
(these are not required)

• Definition- Write and define each misspelled word.
• Syllables- Write and correctly divide each misspelled word into syllables (you may want to use a dictionary).
• Paragraph- Write a paragraph using the misspelled words correctly.
• Pictures- Creatively represent each misspelled word correctly in picture form using color.

Students are encouraged to try different activities and find what works for them. Parents are encouraged to give practice spelling tests at home during the week.
