Mrs. Jones

~6 th Grade Humanities Pack 500~

Expectations:

Students are expected to be on time and prepared for class!

Grading/Homework

All work is due the following day unless stated otherwise. All homework needs to be written in your tracker, completed at home, and brought back to school the following day.

Late Work/Low Scoring Assignments:

All work that is not ready to be turned in, when collected, is considered late and will recieve a maximum 70% credit. Assignments that receive below a 70% may be redone and turned in for 70% credit; within one week of the due date. No late work will be accepted after one week.

Parent/Student Access :

Students will be checking family access weekly when visiting the library.   Parents will be informed about student progress through family access.

Tracker:

REQUIRED DAILY!   This is an organizational tool for you to use to keep track of homework assignments.   They will be checked periodically.   Homework is also listed on my district webpage.   All students (including those absent) should check my webpage daily to verify homework.

In Case of an Absence:

Students are responsible for their own make-up assignments.   Checking Mrs. Jones's webpage will allow students the opportunity to do the missed assignment, while absent, thus having the assignment finished upon arrival back to school. Students will be responsible for writing missed assignments in their tracker. The students will receive as many days as they were absent to complete the assignments.

Weekly Assignments:

Each week a Spelling Pre-test (assessing prior knowledge) will be given on Monday (if a holiday, Tuesday), returned no later than Tuesday, with the Spelling Lessons (worksheets) due on Thursday and the Spelling Pre-test (with missed words spelled correctly 5 times each) and Spelling Test due on Friday.

Reading Pyramid:

Each student is expected to complete one Reading Pyramid and Pyramid Challenge Handbook. These will be collected at the end of each Term, on the following dates:   Oct. 7, Nov. 25, Jan. 27, Mar. 9, April 27, and June 8.

The Pyramid and Handbook will be assessed on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale.   A score of 4 indicates Above Standard performance (reading and journaling 4 or more books).   A score of 3 indicates At Standard performance (3 books), a 2 is Below Standard (2 books), and a 1 would be Significantly Below Standard (reading just one book).
